1. How it works

Laser hair removal is based on the selective photothermolysis principle. This means that the laser emits light with a specific wavelength (755nm Alexandrite, 808nm Diode, 1064nm Nd:Yag), which is absorbed by the melanin (pigment) within the hair follicle. The light emitted by the laser generates heat, which destroys the hair follicle without affecting the surrounding tissues.

2. The initial consultation

Before starting the procedure, it is important to consult our beauticians to determine if laser hair removal is effective in your case. Skin and hair type, as well as other factors, can influence the effectiveness of laser hair removal sessions. During this initial consultation, the beautician analyzes and determines your skin and hair type, asks you a series of questions to outline your profile, and performs tests on the hairs to see if they are destroyed by the laser.

3. Skin preparation

On the day of the procedure, the area to be treated is cleaned and shaved (it is recommended that you shave it at home) so that the laser can act more effectively on the hair follicles. A special gel is applied to protect the skin and allow the laser hand to glide more easily. Moles and marks are covered by the beautician with a special white pencil.

4. Laser hair removal

The beautician will use a laser device to emit pulses of light on the treated area. The beautician will adjust the parameters of the laser to suit your skin and hair type. You may feel a stinging or warm sensation during the procedure, but discomfort is usually minimal. Our device is equipped with a high-performance cooling system at the end that comes into contact with the skin, which lowers the temperature at the contact surface to -27 degrees, for a more comfortable procedure.

5. Sessions frequency

Laser hair removal usually requires several sessions to achieve optimal results. This is due to the hair growth cycle. Any hair is at a given moment in one of the 3 phases of growth:
- anagen – active growth phase
- catagen – transition phase
- telogen – resting phase.
Not all hairs are in the same phase at the same time and because laser hair removal works by destroying hair follicles in the active (anagen) phase, for optimal results, several laser hair removal sessions are required to cover all hairs which are at different stages of the growth cycle.

It is important to follow the recommendations of specialists regarding the number of sessions and the interval between them in order to achieve the best results. Treatments are scheduled at intervals of several weeks in the initial phase (usually 4-6 weeks apart for the first 6 sessions), and then 1-2 sessions are done per year in the maintenance phase.

6. Results and post-laser hair removal care

After treatment, the hair may gradually fall out over the following weeks. The skin may be red and tender, but this discomfort usually disappears within a few days. It is important to avoid exposure to the sun and follow the beautician's advice for post-treatment skin care. After the first few sessions you may notice excessive hair growth in the area, but this is normal and should not determin you to discontinue your sessions.

It is important to note that laser hair removal is more effective for people with fair skin and dark hair because the laser is better absorbed by melanin. The procedure may have variable results from one person to another, and the long-term effects may vary.
